It has been awhile since Connell has faced this many meaningful regular-season matchups in a year. But the Eagles (9-4, 6-1) faced two fellow SCAC contenders — Highland (7-1) and La Salle (8-0) — for the regular-season title over the last week.

KENNEWICK -- Heather Johnson scored four goals, Jenna Wallace added two and the Southridge girls soccer team celebrated being ranked for the first time this season with a 9-0 CBBN rout of Kennewick on Tuesday night at Lampson Stadium.

KENNEWICK -- Kasey McNeill scored twice in a 12-minute span of the first half, and Courtney Hancock recorded her fifth shutout as Southridge defeated visiting Wenatchee 2-0 in CBBN play.

PASCO -- Shawna Anderson scored twice in the first 12 minutes as Pasco outshot Moses Lake 20-2 en route to a 4-0 victory over visiting Moses Lake to lift the Bulldogs into a three-way tie atop the standings.

The Hanford Falcons have already eclipsed their 2007 total for league wins, going 4-4 through eight of the first 13 CBBN games. The Falcons finished 3-9 in the now-defunct CBL 3A last season.

WENATCHEE -- Jori Skorpik scored both of Kamiakin's goals and keeper Megan Carreras was called upon to make just two saves for a 2-0 road victory over Wenatchee and staying tied atop the CBBN at 6-1 with Southridge.

RICHLAND -- Eight years of futility came to a screeching halt Tuesday at Bomber Field in Richland.

WALLA WALLA -- Jori Skorpik had a hat trick and Kamiakin coach Chris Erikson celebrated her 300th career victory with a CBBN rout of Walla Walla by a 7-0 margin.

MOSES LAKE -- Kasey McNeill set up Ellen Jansen's goal six minutes into the match and Southridge (5-0) made it stand up for a 1-0 road victory over Moses Lake (2-4).

In only its third season of existence, the Warden girls program has a long way to go to match the history and traditions already established by its SCAC colleagues.

MOSES LAKE -- Freshman Kristyn Bolander had a hat trick and Megan Carreras made four saves to record the 5-0 shutout as Kamiakin coach Chris Erikson notched career win No. 298.

KENNEWICK -- On the first cold night of the CBBN girls soccer season, Heather Johnson was the coolest girl on the Southridge High field.

Bria Caldwell scored with nine minutes remaining to lift Richland to a 2-1 CBBN victory over Kamiakin at Lampson Stadium.

PASCO -- Morgan Sullivan had a goal and an assist as Pasco beat Eisenhower 4-1 in CBBN action at Edgar Brown Stadium.

The Richland girls soccer team was ready for a different type of season after losing 10 starters from last year's CBL 4A and district championship team that finished fourth at state.

YAKIMA -- Erin Huisingh scored two goals and Kaylie Winston logged two assists as Pasco beat West Valley 3-1 in CBBN action.

KENNEWICK -- Bria Caldwell had a hat trick and Kayla Deen added two goals and two assists as the Richland girls soccer team rolled to a 12-0 CBBN victory over Kennewick on Saturday afternoon at Lampson Stadium.

BENTON CITY -- Kayla Koelzer's tally 10 minutes in stood up as Connell held off Kiona-Benton 1-0 on Thursday.

Kristyn Bohlander scored for Kamiakin in the 70th minute, but Mount Spokane's McKenzie Davis scored in the 75th to send the game into overtime and again with one minute left in sudden death for a 2-1 nonleague win at Lampson Stadium.

SELAH -- Heather Johnson scored three goals and added an assist as Southridge blanked Selah 5-0 in a nonleague victory.

A state title eluded the Mid-Columbia boys soccer community in 2008, but that doesn't mean all was lost for area programs.

SUMNER -- Connell lost for the second straight day at the 1A state tournament at Sunset Chev Stadium -- a 4-3 defeat to Columbia (White Salmon), but the Eagles brought home their fifth boys' state trophy in eight years.

SUMNER -- Jesus Silva scored off an assist from Juan Aguilar in the 24th minute, giving Highland a 1-0 win over Connell in the 1A boys soccer semifinals and a shot at a third-straight state title.

Jose Garibay had spent much of the Connell boys' soccer season anchoring the Eagles' defense as an all-SCAC goalkeeper.

CONNELL -- You can break Freddy Barragan's bones, but you can't break his spirit.

GRANDVIEW -- Mitch Weller scored twice for Cheney in a 3-minute span in the first half as the Blackhawks erased a 1-0 deficit to advance to the 2A state semifinals with a 3-1 win.

Hanford senior midfielder Dino Ramic was voted MVP of the Columbia Basin League 3A.

The Pasco boys soccer team that won the 2007 4A state title thrived on adversity, winning game after game with its back to the wall despite heavy odds.

Jordan Esqueda broke a scoreless tie in the 64th minute and assisted Brian Galvan in the 72nd minute as host Sunnyside beat Kamiakin 2-0 in the first round of the 3A state playoffs.

A playoff loss usually means the end of a season, but not so for Pasco.

A new wrinkle or two is good for you every now and then.

SUNNYSIDE -- Armando Ortiz scored a pair of goals and Joaquin Perez made six saves as Sunnyside beat Eastmont 2-0 to claim its first title since taking the 2004 Mid-Valley district championship.

Central Valley scored twice in the first half to defeat visiting Pasco on Friday and win the 4A Eastern Regional title.

CONNELL -- Raul Farias scored midway through the first half and Jose Garibay made a save in the dying minutes of regulation to preserve Connell's 1-0 victory over Wahluke in the SCAC district championship game.

Coaches in the CBL 3A had marveled all season about how tough their league was.

SUNNYSIDE -- Jesus Solis scored off a loose ball in front of the Kamiakin net in the third minute, a goal which held up for the next 77 minutes to give Sunnyside a 1-0 3A Eastern Regional semifinal home win over the Braves on Wednesday.

GRANDVIEW -- Euladio Lua scored two minutes before halftime and Teclo Perez made eight saves as Grandview won in the CWAC district semifinals 1-0 to clinch its first 2A state berth since 2002.

Marco Acevedo was a bit surprised Monday night when he found out that he had been named the Columbia Basin 4A League's co-Most Valuable Player in boys soccer.

Pasco placed four players on the first team, including Marco Acevdeo as co-player of the year, and Mike Pardini as the top coach to lead the All-Columbia Basin League soccer squad.
