Kamiakin's Verderber medals at WJGA district finals

EAST WENATCHEE -- Amy Verderber, a senior-to-be at Kamiakin, won the girls 16-17 age group title with rounds of 95 and 97 at the Washington Junior Golf Association District 4 championships at Highlander Golf Club in East Wenatchee.

She advanced to state July 29-31 in Bellevue.

Scott Kim of Richland won the boys 16-17 title with a 141 total and a two-stroke margin over Yakima's Erik Gravbrot. Walla Walla's Jake Hanson was third at 146, two better than Pasco's Saul Martinez and College Place's Cameron Davis. Austin Westphal of Kennewick shot 150 and earned the final state berth.

Nick Atkin of Kennewick won the boys 14-15 division with a 146 total, three better than Richland's Tanner Martin.

Mary McDonald of Richland won the girls 14-15 with a 163, by five strokes fewer than Richland's Kristin Strankman.
