Golf notebook: Heart attack sidelines Pasco boys coach

By Jeff Morrow, Herald staff writer

The Pasco boys team has had to soldier on this spring without coach Joe Dubsky.

The long-time pro, who works at Canyon Lakes and also coaches ninth-grade boys basketball at Southridge, suffered a heart attack last month and underwent a triple bypass March 14.

His wife, Judy, said this was Joe's second heart attack.

"He had one back in 2000," she said. "This time around, they said they could put stents in, but there was a 70 percent blockage."

Judy is trying to keep Joe, 65, away from the phone and from being active.

"I think he's about three weeks away from maybe going back to part-time work at Canyon Lakes," she said. "But it's impossible to get him to relax around the house."

Meanwhile, Scott Bond, a teacher and coach at Pasco High, has filled in for Dubsky this spring with the boys team.
