For a pair of Tri-City juniors, the state golf tournament was a bit of a redemption tour.
The Hanford girls golf team finished third Wednesday at the Class 3A state tournament held on Liberty Lake Golf Course near Spokane. The field of 80 players was cut to 40 after Tuesday's opening round. Hanford's qualifying team included Taylor Kain-Godoy, Kelsey Aiello, Katie Stephens and Bri Hadler. Kain-Godoy, Aiello and Hadler placed in the top 20 to earn 71 points. LIBERTY LAKE -- Pasco's Samson Martinez couldn't hold off hard-charging Eric Gravbrot in the Class 3A golf state championships Wednesday.
SPOKANE -- Samson Martinez was good through the first several holes of the 3A state golf tournament at Meadow Wood Golf Course on Tuesday, playing even par through the first six holes.
RICHLAND -- When the Class 4A state golf tournament tees off Tuesday, expect to see a lot of green -- and not just on the ground.
BANKS -- Hermiston senior Kurt Simmons won the Oregon 5A boys state golf championship with a two-day total of 145 (72-73) on Tuesday at the Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks.
PULLMAN -- Othello's Sam Pera, Colton Hall, Trevor Salsbury and Jared Kummer qualified for state along with Prosser's Devin Bender and Chad Hancock at the CWAC/GNL boys regional on Monday at Palouse Ridge Golf Course.

PASCO -- Southridge's Nick Mandell, Austin Westphal, Daniel Cruzen and Nick Atkin all finished among the top ten golfers to qualify for state, and the Suns led all teams with a 599 scored at the CBBN 3A boys district championships Monday at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
Ephrata's Kelsey Sage shot an 89 to earn medalist, and Othello's Delaney Towle and Paulie Garza each shot 101 to tie for third and qualify for regionals at Lakeview Country Club on Thursday in CWAC 2A District championship action.
YAKIMA -- Kristin Strankman shot a 76 to take medalist honors and lead Richland to a CBBN 4A girls victory with a 341 at Yakima Elks.
SPOKANE -- Pasco's Samson Martinez outpaced the field by two strokes, shooting par at 72 at the Spokane Country Club.
SUNNYSIDE -- Hermiston's Kurt Simmons shot a five-over par 77 to take medalist honors and the Bulldogs finished first with 327 in a nonleague golf match at Black Rock Creek in Sunnyside.
YAKIMA -- West Valley's Eric Gravbrot shot 1-under par 72 to take medalist honors, but Southridge won the team title with a 306 in the fifth, and final, CBBN 3A pod match Tuesday at Apple Tree Golf Course in Yakima.
PASCO -- Richland's Kristin Strankman and Mary McDonald toughed out some dower conditions and posted 2-over-par 38s Monday to share medalist honors and give the Bombers a one-two-three sweep of a CBBN 4A match shortened to nine holes at Sun Willows in Pasco.
SUNNYSIDE -- Paulie Garza carded a 94 at Black Rock Creek Golf Course in Sunnyside to lead Othello to a CWAC girls golf wine.
RICHLAND -- Liberty Christian's Jared Hoey and Francesca Lahoz earned medalist honors in a Southeast 2B-1B golf match at Columbia Point.
EAST WENATCHEE -- Taylor Kain-Godoy earned medalist honors and led the Hanford girls to a victory Monday in its CBBN 3A match at Highlander Golf Course in East Wenatchee.

PENDLETON The Kamiakin Braves won a team playoff to knock off La Grande, Ore., in the Pendleton High School Invitational at the Pendleton Country Club.

KENNEWICK -- Tanner Martin earned medalist honors with a 2-under 63, and Hanford teammates Scott Kim (65) and Cole Snider (68) both posted top 10 finishes to lead the Falcons to the team title Friday at the Kennewick Invite at Tri-City Country Club.
SUNNYSIDE -- Chad Hancock turned in a 2-over-par 38 to lead Prosser and claim medalist honors at the Grandview High Jamboree at Black Rock Creek Golf Course.
PASCO -- Eric Gravbrot of West Valley carded a 2-under 70 at Sun Willows to win medalist honors at the Pasco High Golf Invitational on Monday.
