Boise State gets a little Moore richer

HERALD NEWS SERVICES

Prosser High wide receiver Kirby Moore -- the younger brother of Boise State freshman starting quarterback Kellen Moore -- has given the Broncos an oral commitment, he said Monday night.

Moore, a senior, will join the Broncos next summer. He also visited and had scholarship offers from Washington, Washington State and Stanford, he said.

Moore (6-foot-3, 205 pounds) committed Saturday while visiting for the Bowling Green game.

"I really wanted to play with my brother in college," Moore said. "I really thought I'd regret it if I didn't. Being down there at the games made me really want to do it."

Moore, who played about a season and a half with his brother at Prosser, is on the verge of setting a national record for career touchdown catches (he has more than 60). He had 75 receptions for 1,313 yards and a state-record 29 touchdowns last season.

He hopes to work into the rotation at Boise State as a true freshman to maximize his time with his brother.

"Coach (Chris Petersen) says he's going to throw one of the true freshmen in the mix," Moore said. "... I'd love to be in there and I'm going to try to do everything I can. I'll go down there right at the start of summer."

Moore said his brother never pressured him to become a Bronco.

"He already told me before that he was going to tell me what he would be thinking in my situation, but he wasn't going to push me anywhere," Moore said.
