Southridge sophomore commits to Oregon

HERALD STAFF

Southridge's Spencer O'Neil, the top-ranked sophomore in the state according to BaseballNorthwest.com, has verbally committed to the University of Oregon.

O'Neil, a first-team All-CBBN Columbia selection at designated hitter, hit .410 with 23 RBIs this season for the Suns, who reached the 4A regional tournament before being eliminated Tuesday by University.

The earliest O'Neil can sign with the Ducks, who reinstated their baseball program this year, is November 2010.
