Baseball roundup: Othello claims CWAC's No. 3 state berth

SELAH -- Othello survived a pair of loser-out games, defeating Ephrata 8-6 and avenging an earlier tournament loss to Ellensburg, beating the Bulldogs 11-5 to earn the CWAC's No. 3 state berth.

The Huskies, headed to state for the first time since 2004, travel to Chehalis to face the host team, W.F. West, in next Saturday's regional round.

SCAC districts

MOSES LAKE -- Lucas Forgey outdueled Connell's Morgan Heiman --helped along with three unearned runs -- as Naches Valley won the SCAC district title, 3-1 at Larson Field.

Naches takes the No. 1 seed to the regional round of state next Saturday in Wenatchee.

Connell, the second seed, will be back in Moses Lake along with Warden, which defeated Goldendale 12-5 in a seeding game after eliminating River View 5-4 earlier in the day.

Kiona-Benton earlier was eliminated 1-0 in eight innings by the Timberwolves. Blake Lesko singled off the fence with two out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth to score the only run.
