Baseball roundup: Richland clinches second straight league title

YAKIMA -- Jeremy Barwick homered in both ends of a CBL 4A doubleheader as Richland clinched its second straight league title by sweeping Eisenhower.

Brett Jacobs hit a grand slam in the opener, 15-3, and Kevin Lathim also homered for the Bombers, who won the nightcap 10-8.

Brandon Call came within one strike of a no-hitter and Thomas Henderson doubled home Brennan Borlaug with the game's only run as Southridge completed a CBL 3A home sweep to clinch its first league title since 2003.

Brenden Swafford broke up Call's no-hit bid with a two-out single.

Henderson also had three RBIs in the opener.

In the opener, Dane Westermeyer earned the save after Tony Bryant got into trouble in the top of the seventh after tossing six shutout innings.

River View now must survive a district crossover game with the West's No. 5 seed on Saturday to earn a spot in the main draw.

Ki-Be is the East No. 2 seed.
