Richland's sweep creates mess below it

The CBL 4A playoff picture became quite messy with Richland's 10-0, 7-2 sweep of Pasco at Gesa Stadium, combined with Davis' split with Wenatchee and Eisenhower's sweep at Walla Walla.

As a result, the Bulldogs finished in a three-way tie for second with Davis and Moses Lake, forcing a two-day playoff to determine the No. 2 district seed.

Davis plays Pasco on Monday, with the winner traveling to Moses Lake on Tuesday.

Richland already had clinched the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage.

Maxx Garrett went 3-for-3 in the opener, Nick Petragallo went 2-for-2 with three RBIs in the nightcap and Kamiakin swept West Valley at LaPierre Field to earn the CBL 3A No. 3 regional seed.

The Braves (13-7) moved into the double-elimination portion of the tournament and will play at Southridge at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the first round.

James Rogers hit a two-run double in the top of the eighth and Hanford held on to beat Kennewick at Roy Johnson Field and clinch a 3A Eastern Regional berth.

The Falcons are the No. 5 seed and play at North Central in a first-round, loser-out game at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
