He won the 112-pound title at the Inland Empire Classic, getting a pin in the final against Post Falls' Derrick Booth, who placed third at last year's Idaho 5A state meet.
Girls Basketball
Lindsay Roberts. Sr., Richland
She scored a game-high 20 points in a win Friday over West Valley, then had a game-high 15 points before fouling out of Saturday's victory over Kamiakin.
Gymnastics
Danielle Taylor, Jr., Richland
She won three events -- the vault, uneven bars and floor exercise -- en route to winning the all-around title at the opening CBL meet of the season at Kamiakin.
Boys Basketball
Cody Vickers, Sr., Kiona-Benton
He scored a game-high 17 points in Ki-Be's first win of the season Friday against Mabton, then hit the game-winning shot Saturday against Goldendale.
Swimming
Joe Wertz, Jr., Hanford
He won the 100-yard breaststroke and 200 individual medley -- both in state-qualifying times -- en route to winning the Walla Walla Pentathlon all-around title.
