The Mid-Columbia Athletes of the Week for Oct. 11, 2007.

Cross country

Danielle Amparan, Sr., Richland

She finished 11th at the Richland Invite in 19:18 and, along with Katie Mahoney (12th, 19:21), led the Bombers to third place in the team standings.

Football

Brett Clyde, Sr., Connell

Quarterback was 10-of-17 passing for 242 yards and two touchdowns, rushed 15 times for 169 yards and three TDs, and also had an interception in a win over Kiona-Benton.

Soccer

Linda Hernandez, Fr., Wahluke

She scored twice in a win over Ki-Be, including the game-winner in the dying seconds of overtime, and had the game's only goal in a win over Royal.

Swimming

Jenna Mehlenbacher, Jr., Richland

She won the 200- and 500-yard freestyles and swam the third leg on the winning 400 free relay as the Bombers won the Tri-City Championships.

Volleyball

Thea Sansom, Sr., Touchet

Setter had 22 assists, three aces and two blocks in a win over WWVA, then was 21-of-22 serving with five aces and had 29 assists in a win over Liberty Christian.
