Creatures with physical features combining fish with human attributes dwell on Terra.
Though their society is a tad repressive and shuns technology, life on Terra is peaceful until the rag-tag remnant of humanity — living in a gargantuan space ship — invades.
Somewhere in the mish-mash plot is a why-can’t-we-all-just-get-along moral.
Not that anyone will care.
Battle for Terra’s impressive 3-D effects make up for the less-than-impressive story.
What’s not clear is the film’s target demographic. Though young kids are as wowed as their parents by three-dimensional effects, neither age group has an attention span long enough to sit through this yawner.
Teens will love the effects, but the story moves too slow for a group more in love with the half-hour chunks of Asian cartoon crap found on the Cartoon Network than anything really original.
