Washington Lt. Gov's son discharged from hospital

The Associated Press

Lt. Gov. Brad Owen's 37-year-old son Mark has been discharged Tuesday from Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The man accused of shooting him, Carlos Fernandez, remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit, hospital spokeswoman Susan Gregg-Hanson says.

Police say Owen was wounded in the arm and abdomen Monday in a workplace shooting in Kent. Owen is a partner with Fernandez in a paint and body shop for semi-trucks, KBP & Fabrications.

Kent police say 63-year-old Fernandez shot Owen during an argument then shot himself in the head. The hospital reports he remained Tuesday in the intensive care unit.

Brad Owen said his son has worked for Fernandez for about three years, recently becoming a business partner. But the lieutenant governor said the two had a rocky relationship.
