UW's Taylor qualifies for U.S. Open as medalist

ROSYLN -- The stellar spring of Washington junior Nick Taylor continued Monday when he qualified for his second consecutive U.S. Open after taking medalist honors during sectional qualifying.

Taylor grabbed one of two spots available during competition at Tumble Creek at Suncadia in the Cascade Mountains, shooting 6-under for the two rounds to win the sectional by two shots.

On the day Taylor picked up yet another national first-team honor for his play this season with the Huskies, the Abbotsford, British Columbia, native and Pac-10 co-player of the year booked himself a trip to Bethpage Black.
