Gold Mountain gets 2011 U.S. Junior Am

By The Associated Press

BREMERTON -- Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton has been awarded the 2011 U.S. Junior Amateur, the second national championship for the city-owned course, across Puget Sound from Seattle.

The tournament was awarded Monday by the United States Golf Association and will be played July 18-23, 2011. The course hosted the U.S. Amateur Public Links championship in 2006 and last year's NCAA men's West regional.

The course also plans to bid for the NCAA championships.

Getting the 2011 Junior Amateur continues a run of major golf events in Washington state.

Sahalee Country Club outside Seattle will host the 2010 U.S. Senior Open, and Chambers Bay near Tacoma will host the 2010 U.S. Amateur and the 2015 U.S. Open.
