Fever sends QB Ryan Porter to Green Bay

HERALD STAFF

Tri-Cities Fever coach Cedric Walker decided it already was time to make a change at quarterback.

On Monday, Walker shipped expected starter Ryan Porter, who had struggled in the first two exhibition games, to Green Bay for future considerations. To fill that void, Walker acquired quarterback Jason Campbell from Boise for kicker Robby Smith and linebacker/fullback Hausia Faleofa.

Campbell is an arenafootball2 veteran and is being reunited with Walker after playing for him in Everett last season.

In 15 games for the Hawks, Campbell threw for 3,663 yards and 84 touchdowns to go with 14 interceptions.

The moves were the first of what expects to be a busy week for Walker and the Fever, which opens the season Friday night against Stockton at Toyota Center.
