Tri-City gains ground on Boise

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- The Tri-City Dust Devils scored five runs in the first inning Friday at Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver en route to a 10-2 victory over the Canadians to give the Dust Devils their third win in a row.

Tri-Cities (20-19) is now three games behind East Division leader Boise (23-16), which lost 5-3 to Salem-Keizer.

Geoff Strickland returned to the lineup after missing three games and homered in his first at-bat, a two-run shot that gave Tri-Cities a 2-0 lead. Jeff Kindel went 3-for-4 with four RBIs to raise his batting average to .370.

Dust Devils starter Andrew Kriedermacher (3-3) pitched six innings for his third win, allowing just two runs and four hits, while Sean Jarrett, Devin Collis and Simon Ferrer combined for three innings of hitless relief.

Victor Ferrante added three more hits for Tri-Cities, including his fifth home run of the year.

Kevin Bunch (0-1) took the loss for Vancouver.
